How Our Program Works

Application
Individuals interested in participating in the program must submit an application, providing information about their background, goals, and commitment to community involvement.

Assessment
Our team reviews each application and conducts an assessment to determine eligibility and to ensure a match between individuals and available vehicles.

Vehicle Assignment
Upon approval, individuals are assigned a reliable vehicle that best suits their needs and transportation requirements.

Community Service
Participants are expected to contribute to the community by providing transportation services to those in need, such as seniors, individuals with disabilities, or those accessing essential services.

Mentorship
Our program provides ongoing mentorship and support to ensure that individuals are successfully transitioning back into society and using their vehicles responsibly.
Eligibility Criteria
Background Check
All applicants must undergo a thorough background check to ensure they meet our criteria for program participation. We prioritize the safety of our participants, volunteers, and the community.
Commitment to Reintegration
Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to living a crime-free lifestyle, being a responsible citizen, and actively contributing to their communities.
Transportation Need
Applicants must demonstrate a genuine need for reliable transportation to access employment, education, healthcare, or other essential services.
Participant Pledge
Commitment to Community Involvement
Upon acceptance into the program, participants pledge to actively engage in community service by providing transportation to those in need, such as seniors, individuals with disabilities, or those accessing essential services.
Live Crime Free
- Participants commit to living a law-abiding lifestyle and avoiding any criminal activity.
- They pledge to maintain a clean record and be responsible citizens within their communities.
Financial Responsibility
Participants agree to be financially responsible by paying their taxes and fulfilling their financial obligations.

Jason
Jason’s background in reentry involves working with organizations such as the Anti Recidivism Coalition and Defy Ventures. Having witnessed the power of reliable and personal transportation as a means to establishing stability and independence, he collaborated with his partners in establishing Reentry Wheels.
As someone who personally reintegrated into society after a lengthy time away, a pivotal moment came when someone generously donated a car to him. This life-changing gift helped Jason maintain meaningful employment and also regularly see his loved ones, thus strengthening his relationships during such a crucial time.
Believing that one of the main goals for Reentry Wheels is to provide others with the same crucial support, Jason is committed to helping others achieve lasting success in their post-incarceration journey.
Robert
Robert Martinez is the cofounder of a groundbreaking nonprofit organization dedicated to facilitating the reintegration of formerly incarcerated individuals into society. With a core focus on providing reliable transportation. Driven by his own lived experience, Robert understands the challenges faced by those reentering the community. This personal journey has fueled his passion for ensuring others have the support and resources they need to succeed. Robert is honored to be part of Reentry Wheels and believes in the power of community and strives to create a more inclusive and just society where everyone has the opportunity to rebuild their lives. Through his hard work and equipped with a degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences, and working on his Social Work degree, he is an example of the transformative impact that stable support systems and resources can have. Robert has also worked as a peer support specialist, in the juvenile system, and in case management, understanding deeply the barriers our clients face and the pathways to overcoming them.
Transportation is the key that unlocks the door to opportunity and independence for those seeking a fresh start.
James
James is a dedicated advocate with a rich and diverse background. After earning a Business Ready Certification from Baylor University, James has demonstrated resilience and commitment by overcoming personal challenges, including a period of incarceration. Currently, James serves as the Chief Resource Coordinator for Re-Entry Wheels, where he plays a pivotal role in supporting individuals transitioning back into society.
In addition, James is contracted with Bekins as an Operation Coordinator, Safety Coordinator, and Dispatcher, where he manages logistics and ensures safe operations. His previous experience includes a contract with Mayflower, further showcasing his expertise in the industry.
Outside of work, James is passionate about fitness and continually seeks opportunities to learn and grow, believing in the power of personal development and lifelong learning.
